Demon's Hunger by Eve Silver

5 stars.

A recommended read.

I've been waiting quite a while for this book to come out and I have to say that it's well worth the wait. In fact it's even better than the first. Be sure that you have a little extra time when you start reading it because there is no way that you'll want to put it down for quite some time. This is a fun, sexy, and action packed book that could be read as a stand-alone but I'm pretty sure that if you haven't already, you're going to want to go back and read Demon's Kiss...

Dr. Vivien Cairn is afraid that she may be losing her mind, for some time now she has been blacking out and losing hours at a time with no knowledge of where she's been or what she's done. Things only get worse when she opens the door to find a sexy stranger standing there. Within a matter of moments Vivien is attacked by a demon and finds herself on the run with only the powerful Sorcerer Dain Hawkins standing between her and an unspeakable evil...

The Compact of Sorcerers, a brotherhood sworn to protect the wall between the human and demon realms, is thrust into battle with an unseen evil that threatens to destroy them all...

Forensic anthropologist Vivien Cairn fears she's losing her mind. Her libido has kicked into overdrive, and she's blacking out, leaving hours of her life unaccounted for and no memory of where she's been or what she's done. But when a sexy stranger rescues her from a demon attack, Vivien realizes there's more than just her sanity at stake.

A seductive killer is luring victims, and Sorcerer Dain Hawkins finds himself walking a dangerous line between ancient duty and sizzling desire when the brotherhood--and Vivien herself--begins to suspect that her mysterious symptoms may connect her to the crimes. Can Dain save Vivien from the evil that threatens to claim her? Or will they both succumb to...

My Wicked Enemy by Carolyn Jewel

4.5 Stars.
Carson Phillips was one character that I really felt sorry for. Orphaned as a young child and left in the care of Alvaro Magellan. A cold and remote man who takes very little interest in his young ward. She really hadn't got that many breaks in life. A prisoner of the awful migraines that she suffers on a daily basis Carson lives a lonely isolated life. A life that falls apart and leaves her on the run, when she sees her guardian brutally murder a man. Before long it looks as if she's jumped from the frying pan into the fire when she runs into Nikodemus who declares that killing her is # 4 on his list of things to do...

I've been a fan of Carolyn Jewel since her crimson series books so I was really looking forward to My Wicked Enemy and I have to say that it didn't disappoint me at all. I found the storyline and characters to be very interesting but do have to say that the threesome in the middle of the story did take me a little by surprise. Overall it was a fun and interesting read about a powerful young witch and her sexy demon lover, and I'm very much looking forward to the sequel in 2009...

A desire that can't be controlled...Carson Philips is a witch on the run. For years, the notorious mage, Alvaro Magellan, has held her as his psychological prisoner. But once Carson gets a glimpse of the true extent of his evil, she flees Magellan's mansion--stealing a stone talisman of unimaginable power on the way. Her only hope for survival is a demon who ignites a voracious hunger in her she can't deny, a longing she can't resist...

A hunger that can't be sated...Nikodemus is a warlord with a mission: Kill Magellan and his green-eyed witch at any cost. But when he meets the desperate Carson, the pull of her magic takes his breathe away. He's not sure he can trust this tantalizing woman--she is his enemy--and less sure he can keep his hands off her. But Magellan will stop at nothing to reclaim what belongs to him. Can Nikodemus stop him before his desire for Carson destroys them both?

Pleasure Unbound by Larissa Ione

4.5 stars.

Pleasure Unbound is book one of a hot and sexy new erotic paranormal series by Larissa Ione. The story which is completely fascinating, takes place in a dark new world where the lines between good and evil blur. A place where your worst enemy might in fact turn out to be the love of your life.

You will find the world building to be superb and all of the characters, even the villains to be extremely interesting, so much so that I can't wait for the sequel Desire Unchained which is due to be released in Feb. 2009...

The Darkest Kiss by Gena Showalter

5 Stars...

A recommended read...

After centuries alone Anya, the beautiful Goddess of Anarchy and Lucien the cursed half-demon known as Death meet striking sparks off each other that would almost set the pages of your book on fire...

I found The Darkest Kiss to be a fast and fun read that was even better than the first book. All of the characters in the book are extremely interesting and
Lucien and Anya who are a perfect match for each other are no exception. Sure at times Anya seems a little silly and frivolous but anyone who has ever read Greek and Roman Mythology would know that the author is dead on in her interpretation of her personality. The Gods and Goddesses were always portrayed as being silly and childish but at the same time they could also be deadly if crossed.

The Lords Of the Underworld series by Gena Showalter is my newest guilty pleasure...

She has tempted many men… but never found her equal.

Until now.

Though she has lived for centuries, Anya, goddess of anarchy, has never known pleasure. Until Lucien, the incarnation of death—a warrior eternally doomed to take souls to the hereafter. He draws her like no other. And Anya will risk anything to have him.

But when the merciless Lord of the Underworld is ordered by the gods to claim Anya herself, their uncontrollable attraction becomes an anguished pursuit. Now they must defeat the unconquerable forces that control them, before their thirst for one another demands a sacrifice of love beyond imagining.…

Unbreakable by Sydney Somers

I give it five stars.

Unbreakable by Sydney Somers is a fantastic action filled story, in the tradition of Buffy The Vampire Slayer that I found almost impossible to put down. The chemistry between the main characters as well as the secondary ones is outstanding.
When the story first starts Jordan and her partner / lover Gage are brutally attacked by a war demon and in the process the fatally injured Gage ends up dying in her arms.
Fast forward five years into the future, Jordan is still a cop by day but by night she's an ass kicking demon slayer with an attitude! So imagine her anger and hurt when she discovers that Gage didn't really die that night. Instead he's stayed away for the last five years in a misguided attempt to protect her from the shadow demons that she hunts and slays every night.

This book is definitely a keeper. If you love stories about demons, heroes, hot sex and a great love that won't be denied then you are sure to love Unbreakable.

Unbreakable Shadow Destroyers Book One.
Jordan McAdam leads an unusual double life. Police Officer by day, vigilante by night. But Jordan isn't interested in the average criminal, She stalks Shadow Demons, creatures who prey on the innocent, creatures whom she suspects are responsible for a string of bizarre sacrificial murders. Creatures who killed her partner and lover.

Gage Campbell has spent the last few years on a elite team of Shadow Destroyers, hunting down the demons who changed his life-and his DNA. Then an assignment leads him straight back to the woman he hasn't been able to stop thinking about for five long years. The woman he had no choice but to leave behind.

Is the man before her a mimic demon bent on tormenting her, or is it Gage returned from the dead? All Jordan knows is that the raging desire between them is real. Standing between them are years of secrets and hurt, and a love that just might have the power to bring them together. If the murder case they're working on doesn't separate them ...permanently.

The Boxer And The Poet Something Of A Romance by James Thayer

I give it five stars *****

The Boxer And The Poet
Something Of A Romance by the prolific author James Thayer is a fantastic and fast paced adventure filled with so many interesting and fascinating characters. This book keeps you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end, wondering what will happen next. The chemistry between the weary battle scared boxer Dennis and the beautiful socialite Isobel is mesmerizing. If you've enjoyed James Thayer's books in the past then this one, his first but hopefully not his last attempt at a romance will delight you. I found this book almost impossible to put down and James Thayer has a brand new fan in me.

Locked in a desk for decades, a lost poem destined to bring together the unlikeliest of partners...

He'd been wrecked but good this time. At thirty-four, down-and-out boxer Dennis Jones is loveless, motherless, penniless and directionless. When he opens his eyes after a particularly brutal fight, he sees a raven-haired, blue-eyed demon in the guise of an angel. What she wants to do to his life is laughable, insane... Yet what does he have to lose?

New Orleans Garden District socialite and poetry professor Isobel Autry needs a fighter. One who will do what she wants with no questions asked. Someone who can cut through the obstacles between her and Edgar Allen Poe's last, undiscovered great work.

Weaving through ancient secret society rites, boxing rings, the New Orleans underbelly and right back to high society, Dennis and Isobel embark on a quest to revamp his life, find the poem and possibly discover each other. If make it- it'll be close.

Saving Destiny by Pat White

Photobucket

Saving Destiny by Pat White is final story in the Dark Enchantments series. I found it to be a very enjoyable and interesting read, the characters were likable and mostly believable. I did think that the character of Destiny went through a lot of personality changes in a very short time as she changed from being a scared and timid girl into a strong, confident , and powerful woman. But then again the book was only 280 pages long, and the author did what she could to explain everything in a satisfactory manner.

Grade:****
All her life Destiny Rue feared the family curse, insanity. So when she meets Kade Sharpe, a handsome businessman interested in her scientific research, she attributes the vivid fantasies and worse yet, voices to the onset of her dreaded family legacy. But then Kade spins a tale about an Ash Demon Warrior blackmailed by the Cadre into saving the Crystal Goddess, a healer of legend who could destroy his kind. Suddenly, everything Destiny has believed about her life is called into question......
The old destiny would have been terrified, But armed with the strength Kade has given her, the new Destiny considers the magnitude of her legacy, For if she is the fated healer, how can she choose between the life of the man who's changed her entire world and the balance between good and evil?

Gideon by Jacquelyn Frank

Gideon is book two of Jacquelyn Franks highly popular Nightwalkers series. I found the characters to be believable as well as well developed. The storyline was well written but did contain a lot of information in the beginning. which at times did cause the story to lag.
All in all the story was very interesting but not quite as good as Jacob.

Grade:***
Demons have a thousands-year-old rule forbidding them from having relations with humans. Gideon, the oldest of their race has spent eight years in self-imposed exile after attempting to break that law. Recently returned, guilt-wracked Gideon is finally drawn to the true object of his desire, Magdelegna, the young sister of the demon king Noah.

Jacob by Jacquelyn Frank

Jacob is the first installment of the Nightwalkers series by Jacquelyn Frank. Because of the name of the series, I first thought that Jacob was a vampire story but it's actually about demons. Jacob is a compelling and extremely interesting story with strong likable characters

Grade:****
Since time began, there have been Nightwalkers, the races of the night who live in the shadows of the moonlight. Love with humans is completely forbidden, and one man makes certain to uphold this ancient law: Jacob, the Enforcer, For 700 Years, He Has Resisted Temptation. Until tonight.....
Jacob knows the excuses his people give when the madness overtakes them and they fall prey to their lust for humans. He's heard every one and still brought the trespassers to justice. Immune to forbidden desires, or the curse of the moon. His control is total..... until the moment he sees Isabella on a shadowy New York street. Saving her life wasn't in his plans. Nor were the overwhelming feelings she arouses in him.

Night Mischief by Nina Bruhns

Night Mischief by Nina Bruhns is the very enjoyable third installment of the Dark Enchantments series. The story is exceptional with likeable and very well rounded characters. Along with some extremely hot sex scenes.

Devil Inside by Jenna Black

Devil Inside is the latest book by the very prolific writer Jenna Black. I found the book to be very well written and interesting. If you enjoy books about strong tough women and sexy demons. Then you will most likely enjoy Devil Inside.
Now for the parts that I didn't enjoy. When the book first starts Morgan is a strong kick-ass Exorcist but about halfway through the book she ends up being more wimpy than anything else. Which just didn't seem to jibe with her character
At times the sex is just a little too much and ends up detracting instead of adding to the story. Please note this book does contain violence, bondage, and some scenes of male lovers. So it may not be some peoples cup of tea. In future sequels I would enjoy more character development and maybe a little less sex.

Grade:***+
Morgan Kingsley is in Topeka Kansas for an exorcism job when she finds that she herself is possessed. And not by just any demon. Lugh the demon King is six feet five inches of dark delicious temptation. Which is more temptation than most women could take.
