Mortal Sins by Eileen Wilks

5 Stars.

Another excellent paranormal by Eileen Wilkes. This one takes up right where the last ended and even though it's been a year since the last story you will find yourself quickly brought up to speed. You could probably read this book as a stand - alone but I really wouldn't recommend it. For one thing you would miss out on some really good reading and to get the most from the series you should start with the first story.

Scions Revelation

5 Stars.
A recommend read.

They just keep getting better and better, I know that I've said this before but this is definitely my favorite in The Scions series of books. When it comes to good solid entertainment Patrice Michelle never fails to deliver and Scions Revelation is no exception. The story is filled with action, hot romance, and so many interesting twists and turns that you'll find yourself completely riveted...

If you've not read the first two books in the series I would recommend that you do so. Not because it's necessary to understand this story, but because if you don't you're going to be missing out on a couple of awesome stories...

Emma Gray is a nice normal young woman still living at home with her aunt and working at a cafe. True she does have a few unusual talents such as an extremely sharp sense of smell. But overall she's just an ordinary young woman. Until the day that her Aunt is kidnapped and Emma's nice ordinary world is turned upside down in ways that she's never imagined...

Caine Grennard is a werewolf, living among humans and lacking purpose—until the night he meets a woman with an exotic, irresistible scent. A woman who might be his deadliest enemy...

When her aunt is kidnapped, Emma Gray swears she'll do anything to get the older woman back. Even if it means trusting the mysterious—and sexy—stranger named Caine.

But more is at stake than one woman's life: Emma's past holds the last key to unlocking a prophecy Caine's clan is depending on. The fates of both their clans rest on Caine and Emma trusting the impossible, electric connection between them, even in the midst of betrayal.

Dragons Heart by Marly Mathews

4 Stars.

A pleasure to read.
Dragons Heart is a sweet and tender love story about two people who find each other at a time when their world as they know it is being torn apart by a violent civil war. Grania a beautiful half/dragon half/human princess is sent to protect the wizard Dylan who's magical spell may hold the key to saving their world. And in the process finds herself unwillingly falling in love with the sometimes annoying but very sexy wizard...

This is a complex and interesting tale about a violent and at the same time very fascinating world. And is sure to appeal to anyone who enjoys stories of magic, wizards, shape shifters and a love to last a lifetime.

With Dragonia torn by civil war and the rebels winning the fight, it was only a matter of time before the dragon shifters focused on earth in their determination to take back what mankind had taken from them centuries before. The wizard Dylan Lightfoot was their only hope, the only capable of conjuring the spell they needed to defeat the rebels, and it was Grania’s duty to defend him at whatever cost.

She hadn’t suspected what it would cost her, though, would never have believed she would find her soul mate to be a wizard, not one of her kind.

Dragons Heart is available now by New Concepts Publishing.

Walk On The Wild Side by Christine Warren

4.5 Stars.

Christine Warren is one of those authors who consistently produce top quality books. And Walk on the Wild Side book five of The Others series is no exception. This book is more of a stand alone read, it still takes place in the world of the others, but with completely different characters. This doesn't detract from the story at all, but is important to know for some people who may be expecting something different...

This book is filled with some of the most interesting characters that I've read about in a long time. The villains are truly evil & hateful and you'll quickly find yourself wishing for them to get their just deserts...

After being involved in a near fatal accident Kitty Sugarman finds out that for the last 24 years everything that she knew about herself is in fact a lie. And instead of being a nice ordinary small-town girl she is in fact a were-lion. Kitty does have a few TSTL (to stupid to live tendencies) some of which may be due to her youth and inexperience. But in spite of that she makes a good likable and engaging female lead...

The male lead, Marcus Stewart is truly the ultimate alpha male. His character is extremely likable, Strong and sexy but at the same time never over-bearing...

Kitty Sugarman is a lot tougher than her name implies. Still, she’s content with how her small- town life keeps her removed from all the changes happening in the world—like the Unveiling of the Others. That is, until a near-tragedy strikes and Kitty discovers she has abilities . . .thanks to a father she never knew was alive. He also happens to be a were-lion and leader of one of the most powerful Prides out West.

WALK ON THE WILD SIDE

When Kitty heads to Vegas to find out more about her father, it’s his sexy, seductive second-in-command or baas of the Pride, Marcus Stewart, who commands her attention. Now that she has tempted Marcus’s hunger for a mate, Kitty finds herself stuck in a vicious struggle for her father’s fortune, while deadly unrest stirs within the pride. Kitty’s rivals won’t rest until she’s gone for good, but Marcus will fight until his last breath to save her…even if it means going against the pride.

The Darkest Kiss by Gena Showalter

5 Stars...

A recommended read...

After centuries alone Anya, the beautiful Goddess of Anarchy and Lucien the cursed half-demon known as Death meet striking sparks off each other that would almost set the pages of your book on fire...

I found The Darkest Kiss to be a fast and fun read that was even better than the first book. All of the characters in the book are extremely interesting and
Lucien and Anya who are a perfect match for each other are no exception. Sure at times Anya seems a little silly and frivolous but anyone who has ever read Greek and Roman Mythology would know that the author is dead on in her interpretation of her personality. The Gods and Goddesses were always portrayed as being silly and childish but at the same time they could also be deadly if crossed.

The Lords Of the Underworld series by Gena Showalter is my newest guilty pleasure...

She has tempted many men… but never found her equal.

Until now.

Though she has lived for centuries, Anya, goddess of anarchy, has never known pleasure. Until Lucien, the incarnation of death—a warrior eternally doomed to take souls to the hereafter. He draws her like no other. And Anya will risk anything to have him.

But when the merciless Lord of the Underworld is ordered by the gods to claim Anya herself, their uncontrollable attraction becomes an anguished pursuit. Now they must defeat the unconquerable forces that control them, before their thirst for one another demands a sacrifice of love beyond imagining.…

Darkness Everlasting by Alexandra Ivy

5 Stars...

A recommended read...

Darkness Everlasting is book three of the very enjoyable Guardians Of Eternity series by Alexandra Ivy. In this story Styx, the sexy Aztec leader of the vampires will do whatever it takes to keep the weres under control even going so far as to kidnap a woman right out from under the very nose of the werewolf King Salvatore Giuliani. This story is so well written that it's not really necessary for you to read the previous books. But I would recommend that you do so just for the fact that you will miss out on some amazing stories...

Each of the main characters are very interesting and appealing in their own way, Styx for his sense of loyalty and gentleness with Darcy. Darcy for her levelheaded strength and wit, and Salvatore for his honor, at a time when he's fighting for the very survival of his race...

Kiss Of Fire by Deborah Cooke

4.5 Stars...

Kiss Of Fire A Dragonfire Novel by Deborah Cooke is book one in an exciting new paranormal series about a group of shape-shifting dragon warriors called the Pyr who consider themselves the guardians of the earth...

I'm going to come right out and admit it, one of the main reasons that I purchased this book was because of the cover. It's not very scientific reason, but in this case everything worked really well. The heroine Sara Keegan is a nice normal maybe even slightly boring young woman who inherits a new age bookstore when her aunt passes away. And that's when her nice boring world is turned upside down, first she's viciously attacked outside her store only to be saved by a fire-breathing dragon that turns into a hot and sexy man. The hero of the story Quinn Tyrrell is a very likable character, he's a protective alpha male who recognizes Sara as his chosen mate but at the same time his character is never over-bearing in the way that the alpha male character is sometimes portrayed...

If you enjoy stories about dragons, shifters, and hot alpha males then you're sure to love Kiss Of Fire...

For millennia, the shape-shifting dragon warriors known as the Pyr have commanded the four elements and guarded the earth's treasures. But now the final reckoning between the Pyr, who count humans among the earth's treasures, and the Slayers, who would eradicate both humans and the Pyr who protect them, is about to begin...

When Sara Keegan decides to settle down and run her quirky aunt's New Age bookstore, she's not looking for adventure. She doesn't believe in fate or the magic of the tarot-but when she's saved from a vicious attack by a man who has the ability to turn into a fire-breathing dragon, she questions whether she's losing her mind-or about to lose her heart...

Quinn Tyrrell has long been distrustful of his fellow Pyr and a self-reliant loner. So when he feels the firestorm that signals his destined mate, he's determined to protect and possess Sara, regardless of the cost to himself. Then Sara's true destiny is revealed-and Quinn realizes he must risk everything- even Sara's love-to fulfill their entwined fates...

Kiss Of Fury (Dragonfire book two) is due to be released August 5 2008

The Witch And The Wolf by Marly Mathews

4 Stars...

What's not to like about a Marly Mathews novel? She's an expert at weaving fantastic tales ranging from medieval times to the far distant future. My Immortal by Erin McCarthy

4 Stars...

A fascinating and very complex story, that is not easily forgotten...

My Immortal book one of the Seven Deadly Sins series by Erin McCarthy is by no means your typical romance. Instead it's a dark and shocking tale of lust, passion, sin and redemptation. In 1790 Damien Du Bourg struck a deal with Rosa Francis the demon of greed. A deal that he will live to regret many times over...

If you enjoy your romance just a little darker and with an edge then you're sure to love My Immortal...

In the late eighteenth century, a spoiled, selfish plantation owner struck an unholy bargain with a fallen angel: an eternity of servitude in exchange for the gift of immortality. For more than two hundred years, Damien du Bourg has held up his end of the bargain by inspiring lust in everyone around him...

While searching for her missing sister, Marley Turner stumbles upon Damien's Plantation on the outskirts of New Orleans and enters a world of shocking decadence. Scions Insurrection by Patrice Michelle

Five Stars...

A recommended read.

Scions Insurrection book two of the Scions series by Patrice Michelle takes up where Scions Resurrection left off. Only this story is focusing more on the sexy werewolf PI. Landon Rourke whom we first met in the earlier story. If possible this story is even better than the first, the characters especially that of Landon, the ultimate alpha male are extremely likable and well- rounded. The story line is especially interesting and while it would be helpful to read Scions Resurrection first this story is so well written that it could also be a stand-alone. There is also a very interesting twist to the story, that I would love to but can't divulge...

When Kaitlyn McKinney teams up with PI Landon Rourke to solve a difficult case she gets quite a bit more than she bargained for in more ways than one. Not only does she have an instant attraction to him but he also happens to be a werewolf...

Humanity had reason to fear Vampires. But they didn't know about Werewolves. Yet.

When Detective Kaitlyn McKinney responds to a call about a strange, burned body, she discovers something far more complicated-and dangerous.

Landon Rourke is a werewolf, exiled from his pack and dedicated to keeping a protective watch over Kaitlyn. A prophecy has said that his kind and vampires would one day come to a truce. But that day has yet to come.
Landon has his own past to deal with, too, involving Kaitie herself. A dark truth that has kept them apart for years. When Kaitlyn get caught in the battle between vampires and werewolves, the long-simmering attraction that she shares with Landon ignites. And in that attraction they find the secret that will bring them together...

Predatory Game by Christine Feehan

4.5 stars...
Predatory Game is book six of the ghost walker series about a group of almost at times super-human warriors. Whose abilities were enhanced by Dr.Whitney an evil genius trying to create the perfect soldier.

I found it to be a very enjoyable read and well worth waiting for . The plot is still really interesting in spite of the fact that this story has already been done, several times in fact. Like the other ghost walker stories it's filled with lot's of action and adventure, romance and suspense along with a little hot sex sex thrown in.

Unlike some of the previous stories this one does focus more on the developing relationship between Jess, a ghostwalker who was injured on a previous mission and can no longer walk. But still manages to be a force to be reckoned with when under attack . And Saber, who is one of the orphan girls that Dr. Whitney first used in his experiments. Sabre has one of the most deadly skills ever seen in a ghostwalker, she can kill with a touch. Something that makes the other ghostwalkers more than a little leery around her. I found the author to be accurate in her portrayal of Sabre who is very likable but at times seems a little young and childish. Which when you think about it is to be expected, after all she didn't have the typical upbringing. She was isolated and used from a very young age as an assassin and that's not exactly conductive to learning social skills...

Saber Wynter is running from her past when she meets ex-Navy SEAL and Ghostwalker Jess Calhoun. But the riddles of both their pasts are about to collide, shattering the promise of their future with the ultimate betrayal.

Touched By Darkness by Catherine Spangler

4.5 Stars

Touched By Darkness by Catherine Spangler is book one of her exciting new sentinel series.
I found it to be a superb dark fantasy woven around the ancient legend of Atlantis. For the most part stories about Atlantis have become a tired and over-used concept so I was pleasantly surprised at just how entertaining the story actually was. The world building was excellent in that the author gives you just enough information to compliment but not overwhelm the story.

Seven years ago Dr. Kara Catrell's lover was brutally murdered by a Belian, an evil demon like spirit that occupies a mortal body. And ever since she's been on the run, trying to protect her young son Alex from the same evil that killed his father. But now it seems that same evil has again found them and the only thing standing between them and death is Damien Morgan a dark and dangerously sexy sentinel who forces her to remember feelings and desires long forgotten. This story has a very interesting twist that will keep you guessing right up until the end as to who the Belian really is....

After seven years on the run, Dr. Kara Cantrell thought she and her son, Alex, were safe. She was wrong.

Kara settled in the sleepy town of Zorro, Texas, convinced she and her child had escaped the sinister reach of a supernatural underworld. But now dark forces may jeopardize her new life. Her only hope is Damien Morgan, a dangerous, alluring man with superhuman abilities. He and Kara share a mystical link that triggers desires they must ignore. But as they work together to protect her son, and to track the evil stalking them, something threatens to push them toward the edge...of darkness.

Scions Resurrection by Patrice Michelle

I give it five stars...

Ariel Swanson's entire family was slaughtered by Vampires and in an attempt to conquer her fears she wrote a novel about Vampires. A book that brought her to the attention of the very creatures she so feared and hated.

Scions Resurrection is book one of a hot & sexy new paranormal series by Patrice Michelle.
This story takes place in a world much like our own, but much darker. In this reality vampires were created by humans in an attempt to create a superior race. And then later destroyed when the experiment failed, or so they thought...

I found Scions Resurrection to be a thoroughly enjoyable read, the action is intense and at times almost non-stop. The world building is masterfully done and the chemistry between the two main characters is so beautifully written. Jachin Black portrays the perfect alpha male who unwillingly finds himself drawn to the beautiful and feisty Ariel even though he despises humans as weak and pathetic creatures. And spunky Ariel Swanson is the perfect heroine, who finds the courage to face her fears and in the process finds a lasting love.

The Fortune Hunter by Jasmine Haynes

I give it Five Stars

When it comes to erotic romance Jasmine Haynes sets the standard. Her characters are so very real and believable. The sex is hot and sizzling but never meaningless, and this her latest story is no exception. The plot of The Fortune Hunter (wealthy heiress meets fortune hunter) seemed more suited for a historical romance so I was pleasantly surprised at just how well it worked in a contempory setting.

Faith is the type of heroine that almost anyone can identify with. She's a very nice, normal sized woman who also happens to be a little insecure about her looks, and as a result doesn't always realize her own worth.

Connor as the not-quite reformed bad boy is the perfect hero and proves the old adge to be true that reformed bad boys make the best husbands. He's the kind of man who knows what he wants and goes after it, in spite of the fact that he doesn't believe in love it's very obvious that he quickly falls in love with his delightful new wife...

The Fortune Hunter isn't at all like your typical erotic romance, instead it's a hot, sweet, and very tender love story that will leave you believing in ever after long after the story ends.......

If she wants to realize her lifelong dream of having children, heiress Faith Castle had better find a husband-pronto. But there are two roadblocks on her road to happiness, she knows no eligible men, and she's not exactly Miss California.

Then she meets Connor Kingston. He's yummy. He's available. And he thinks she's sexy...

But he's also honest. After a kiss that leaves them hot and bothered Connor offers to marry Faith, but purely as a career move. It's far from romantic, but it's as good as an offer as she's going to get. Each has a caveat, though. She requires fidelity-and he wants a no-holds-barred sex life.

From their wedding night on, they get more and more adventuresome-and Faith starts feeling differently about herself and her body. And somewhere in the midst of ecstasy, she comes to know the most exciting aphrodisiac of all-love. Now, if only there was a way to make him sucumb to it...

The trilogy continues with Show And Tell coming July 2008 and Games People Play 2009

Guardian's Keep by Lori Devoti

I give it four stars +

The paranormal romance Guardian's Keep by Lori Devoti is book two of the exciting new unbound series and offers an enjoyable and fascinating glimpse into a strange and magical multi-layered world. Although it's not necessary that you read Unbound first you might find it helpful as it does offer an explanation of why the two main characters Kelly and Kol are at such odds with each other. The chemistry between the two of them in spite of or maybe because of their differences is scorching hot that's not to mention the fact that from start to finish the action never ends. If you enjoy stories that are filled with non-stop action, romance, witches, shape-shifters, and all manner of magical beasts then this is one book that you're sure to enjoy....

Kol Hildr had spent the last century battling hellhounds and warlocks who sought to usurp his portal's magic. A mighty shape-shifter with the ability to change into wolf form, Kol made accessing the powerful gateway nearly impossible - unless you were a witch of Kelly Shane's talents. She had a score to settle and would do anything to close the portal that led to her unearthly prison. Though an alliance with her compromised Kol's purpose, something about the little witch overwhelmed his firece, battle-worn soul. But when he learned Kelly's life might be in jeopardy, could Kol put aside the one thing he thought he valued most- the portal-to jouney to the other side and rescue her?

Night Season by Eileen Wilks

I give it five stars.....

Night Season by Eileen Wilks, is a wonderful blend of magic, adventure, and romance and in my opinion her best story yet. In this story part four of the world of lupi series, a pregnant Cynna Weaver and her companion the lupi sorcerer Cullen Seaborne along with one of my favorite characters the sassy little demon Gan journey to a magical realm called Edge in order to obtain a stolen medallion. Along the way they encounter numerous hardships and fantastic adventures. their very hard to put down story is literally filled with action, adventure, romance, magic, and even a dragon. Before reading this story I would recommend that you read the previous books in the series, so that you will understand all of the nuances of this wonderful and magical world that the author has crafted.

Pregnancy has turned FBI agent Cynna Weaver's whole life upside down. Lupus sorcerer Cullen Seabourne is thrilled to be a father, but what does Cynna know about kid's? Her mother was a drunk and her father abandoned his family. Or so she's always believed...

Malcolm the seductive black dragon has returned to dragonspace leaving Saba Watanabe his love slave behind. But when Saba is brutally assaulted by a white dragon in human form a furious Malcolm returns to defend his Saba, the beautiful witch who holds his heart.

Unbreakable by Sydney Somers

I give it five stars.

Unbreakable by Sydney Somers is a fantastic action filled story, in the tradition of Buffy The Vampire Slayer that I found almost impossible to put down. The chemistry between the main characters as well as the secondary ones is outstanding.
When the story first starts Jordan and her partner / lover Gage are brutally attacked by a war demon and in the process the fatally injured Gage ends up dying in her arms.
Fast forward five years into the future, Jordan is still a cop by day but by night she's an ass kicking demon slayer with an attitude! So imagine her anger and hurt when she discovers that Gage didn't really die that night. Instead he's stayed away for the last five years in a misguided attempt to protect her from the shadow demons that she hunts and slays every night.

This book is definitely a keeper. If you love stories about demons, heroes, hot sex and a great love that won't be denied then you are sure to love Unbreakable.

Return Of The Warrior by Rebecca York

I give it four stars.

Return of the Warrior from the 43 Light Street series by Rebecca York is a fast paced and highly enjoyable read of the age old story of good versus evil. I found the characters to be interesting, and likable as well as believable. It's also interesting how Sidney finds herself attracted to Luke and at the same time to Zabastian, the warrior who possesses Luke's body.

The moment Luke McMillan opened the antique box, the mild-mannered computer expert gave way to a brazen warrior.

A warrior whose spirit had been locked away for centuries, now unleashed, he spoke of curses and world destruction- unless Luke and Sidney Weston could bring the artifact back to it's rightful place.

However, their journey was plagued by a band of thieves seeking the relic for their own dark purposes. Sidney had suspected it's power, but the way it changed Luke both frightened and aroused her. Empowered with strength greater than any mortal's, Luke found it difficult to balance his needs with the fiery warrior's. Until both spirits found solace in Sidney. But when it came time to take a stand, whose spirit would emerge from the battle? Luke's or the warrior's?
